NASA has been making significant strides in the development of the Habitable Worlds Observatory (HWO), which aims to identify and study potentially habitable exoplanets. In August 2024, NASA established the HWO Technology Maturation Project Office (TMPO) to oversee the critical technological advancements and scientific research essential for the mission’s success. Recently, the TMPO released a detailed plan outlining the initial steps required for the observatory’s development, which has been made available in pre-print format on arXiv.
